What are ESOL courses?

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses are designed for adults whose first language is not English.

Who is an ESOL course for?

  • Aged 19+ (EAL courses are also available for people under 19)
  • A citizen of the UK
  • An EU citizen
  • Recently arrived in the UK with certain types of immigration status (see the table below)
