English courses for Hong Kong BN(O)s

Funded English courses are available to Hong Kong British Nationals (Overseas).

Funded English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) courses are available to Hong Kong British Nationals.

Who can apply?

If you hold Hong Kong British National (Overseas) status or are a dependent of a status holder, funded support is available to help you improve your English.

Funding of up to £800 per adult is available during the period April 2023 - March 2024.

Approved Providers of ESOL Courses for Hong Kong BN(O)s

If you hold British National (Overseas) status and would like to start an ESOL course, we have Approved Providers who deliver the courses, and who will be able to check whether you are eligible for ESOL funding. These providers are:

Abingdon & Witney College

Abingdon & Witney College (Abingdon & Witney) abingdon-witney.ac.uk provide ESOL classes in Oxford, Abingdon, Witney, and Bicester. The classes are part-time and start at various times throughout the year. To contact them:

Activate Learning (Oxford) oxford.activatelearning.ac.uk provide ESOL classes in Oxford. The classes are part-time and are in the daytime or evening. To contact them:

EMBS Community College

EMBS Community College (Oxford and Banbury) www.embs.ac.uk offers ESOL classes in Oxford and Banbury. To contact them:

  • You can have a face-to-face/drop-in appointment at one of their centres in either Cowley or Banbury:

    • The Cowley Centre is open on Monday – Friday, from 9am to 5pm. Templar Square Cowley Centre, Second Floor, 213b Barns Road, Oxford, OX4 3UT
