Feeding your baby

Guidance about breastfeeding and bottle feeding your baby.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding takes practice. It takes time to work out which feeding and burping positions feel best. There aren't 'correct' positions – it's about what feels most comfortable for you both, so try them all out to see which feels best.

Feeding when out and about

We are working with other partners to ensure that any mother who wishes to breastfeed in public can do so if she wishes.

Under the Equality Act, 2010 businesses cannot discriminate against a mother for wishing to breastfeed.

Keep your eye out for the signs in businesses and public buildings that flag awareness and support for the rights of breastfeeding mothers.
